Things to Do
Beaches, day trips, culture, and the best local experiences in and around La Línea.
Playa de Poniente
The main beach stretches over a kilometre of golden sand. Calm waters, chiringuitos (beach bars), and spectacular views of the Rock of Gibraltar. Perfect for families and evening walks.
Playa de Levante
On the eastern side of the peninsula, Levante is quieter and wilder. Popular with surfers when the wind picks up from the east. Less crowded than Poniente, with a more local feel.
Paseo Maritimo
The seafront promenade is the social heart of La Línea. Walk, jog, or cycle along the coast with views of Gibraltar. Lined with restaurants and bars, it comes alive in the evenings.
Day Trip to Tarifa
Just 30 minutes by car, Tarifa is the windsurfing capital of Europe and the southernmost point of mainland Europe. Take the ferry to Tangier, Morocco for a day of culture and shopping.
Gibraltar
Walk across the border and explore the Rock. See the famous Barbary macaques, visit St Michael's Cave, explore the World War II tunnels, and enjoy duty-free shopping on Main Street.
Local Markets
The weekly market (mercadillo) is a bustling affair with fresh produce, clothes, and local goods. The municipal market (Mercado de Abastos) is the place for fresh fish straight off the boats.
